TELEHEALTH Speech Therapy Services

At Soflex Speech Pathology, we believe that communication is the foundation of human relationships. Whether you or someone you know are struggling with swallowing, stuttering, articulation, literacy, language, or social communication difficulties, as an experienced speech therapist, Tony will work with you to create a personalised treatment plan that meets your unique needs in a location suited to you, including online!

Telehealth services allow for consultation, assessment, and/or intervention services from the comfort of your home or location of choosing. Tony is highly skilled in providing services via the Zoom video communication platform. All that is needed is a phone, laptop, or computer with video/audio capabilities and a phone or internet connection. Telehealth is an elegant solution for individuals who live rurally around Australia, far from a clinic, and allows a unique opportunity for clinicians to see the home environment to make therapy goals that are specific to a client's routine and everyday life. 

Telehealth services offer a flexibility and financial option to suit limited funding packages or accessibility difficulties face-to-face services may not consider. Tony will talk with you to identify if Telehealth is suitable and recommended.

At Soflex Speech Pathology, telehealth services are available for:

• Speech-language evaluations (Assessment and reporting)
• Articulation evaluations and interventions (speech intelligibility) 
• Voice evaluations and treatment interventions
• Swallowing evaluations and mealtime management plans (Dysphagia assessments)
• Speech, language, and voice therapy interventions
• Education and training - individual, group, key worker

Prior to the assessment, treatment or training/education session, your will be provided with a Zoom link that will bring you to the “room” for your reserved time. Please check to make sure that this link works – as well as audio settings - on the device of your choosing.

Below are details on how to set up your environment to ensure a successful evaluation and/or treatment session:

1. Ensure you or the participant is set up in a quiet setting, free from distractions.
2. A web-enabled desktop, laptop, or iPad is required for testing and/or treatment. Smaller screen sizes (i.e., phones are not recommended for ongoing therapy due to visual limitations; if a dedicated device for Telehealth is required due to limited access to therapeutic support or similar, this can be explored via assistive technology application requests).
3. Close all other programs on the device, and please suspend unnecessary alerts and notifications (e.g. messenger, social media, email etc) so that they do not appear during sessions.
4. If available, use a headset with a microphone.
